Project:
The systems approach to instructional development (ID) has drawn upon behavior sciences and been influenced by cognitive sciences. For the past few years, the perspective of constructivism has been incorporated into the systematic design of instruction. Even so, critics have questioned of an ID’s stipulation that a complete front-end analysis always precedes its design phase. This sequential relationship, for some, can be a matter of luxury. For some, it is a question of timeliness. For instance, advocates of the rapid prototyping instructional design model do not seem to agree to the relationship. The question is, what role can the rapid prototyping instructional design model play in the systematic design of instruction? If the relationship between rapid prototyping and instructional development is reciprocal or complementary, how does one compensate or complement the other in the design and development of an instructional project?
